Cat Battles Controls and Keybinds: The Documented PC Inputs
Every documented Cat Battles control — Punch (Click), Grab (Right Click), Kick (F), Lift (Shift), ability (Q) — straight from the developer's official description, plus what each action does at a high level.
Cat Battles uses five core PC inputs, and the developer documents all of them in the official HOW TO PLAY description: Punch on Click, Grab on Right Click, Kick on F, Lift on Shift, and your ability on Q. That is the entire confirmed basic control scheme.
Keyboard and mouse controls
| Action | Input |
|---|---|
| Punch | Click |
| Grab | Right Click |
| Kick | F |
| Lift | Shift |
| Ability | Q |
Every binding in this table comes from the developer's own game description, which is mirrored unchanged across the game's official listings, and was checked on October 12, 2026. None of the independent guides checked gives a different binding for any of the five actions.
Two wording notes worth knowing:
- The developer writes the Punch input as just "Click." Grab is explicitly Right Click, but the official text doesn't spell out left versus right for Punch — one third-party guide renders it as Left Click.
- Some older promotional artwork shows "E HIT." The current official description says Kick (F), so F is the binding to use; that artwork doesn't establish a current E binding or prove that Hit and Kick are the same action.
What each action does at a high level
The official description lists the bindings but doesn't describe what the actions do in a fight. The one-line roles below come from third-party guide commentary, not developer documentation, and stay at lookup level — execution technique has its own guides.
- Punch (Click): Guides group punch with grab, kick and lift as the four basic inputs to drill until they feel automatic — fundamentals worth locking in before anything else.
- Grab (Right Click): Guide commentary describes grab as locking a target at close range and opening follow-up actions.
- Lift (Shift): Guide commentary describes lift as controlling an opponent at close range to set up a positional advantage.
- Kick (F): The developer documents F for kick, and guides count it among the same four basic inputs; the checked sources don't give kick its own separate role breakdown.
- Ability (Q): Q uses your ability. The official description names the eight abilities — Dash, Pounce, Hiss, Anchor, Stomp, Catnip, Fluff Up, and Hairball — but doesn't describe their effects or cooldowns, and doesn't explain how Q relates to choosing or equipping among them. Guides characterize the Q ability as serving mobility, control, or defense depending on which one you run.
Mobile and controller controls
The official listing covers PC inputs only. Neither the developer's description nor the guides checked document any mobile touch mappings or gamepad bindings, and no key remapping options are documented either. If you're playing on anything other than PC mouse and keyboard, the five bindings above are the only confirmed scheme — other-device controls stay unspecified rather than inferred from PC conventions.
Where to learn the deeper techniques
The table above answers which button to press. For how each action actually plays out in a bout:

- How to lift — the full lift technique behind the Shift input.
- Cat Battles abilities — the eight abilities that sit behind the Q key.
- How to play Cat Battles — the basics from your first bout onward.
